Linguahan, Inc. (“Linguahan”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Linguahan mobile application and website linguahan.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. By using Linguahan, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials (via Google, Apple, or email/password).

2.2 Learning Data

We collect and store your conversation transcripts, pronunciation recordings, vocabulary entries, learning progress, streak data, and points history to provide and improve our Service.

2.3 Voice Data

We record short voice samples when you use speaking features such as shadowing, scene practice, pronunciation exercises, or voice translation. Voice data is processed to provide pronunciation feedback and is not sold to third parties.

2.4 Device & Usage Data

We automatically collect device type, OS version, app version, crash logs, and usage analytics (session duration, features used) to improve app stability and performance.

2.5 Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Apple (iOS App Store), Google (Play Store), Stripe, or PayPal where available. We do not store full credit card numbers. We receive subscription status and transaction IDs from these processors.

To personalize your learning experience (progress history, tone weakness tracking, saved activity)
To process payments and manage subscriptions

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

OpenAI — for LLM-powered conversations (no personal data stored after processing per OpenAI API policy)
Microsoft Azure Speech — for pronunciation assessment (audio processed, not stored long-term)
Firebase / Google — for push notifications and authentication
Stripe / PayPal — for web payment processing where available
Cloudflare R2 — for audio file storage (encrypted at rest)

Availability of Stripe or PayPal checkout may vary by region and website configuration. App Store and Google Play purchases are processed by Apple and Google under their respective store policies.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed within 30 days (GDPR compliance). Anonymized, aggregated usage statistics may be retained indefinitely.

Depending on your location, you have the right to:

We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, JWT authentication with refresh token rotation, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Push Notifications

With your permission, we may send push notifications for learning reminders, streak alerts, achievement unlocks, and weekly progress reports. You can manage or disable notifications at any time in the app settings or your device's notification preferences.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification or email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
